Leviticus 3 — Sketch
A Sacrifice for Peace
Big idea:
Fellowship/Peace offerings can be flawless bulls, lambs or goats.
They must put hands on the animal and slaughter it.
The blood is sprinkled on the altar, and the rest is burned.
Jesus in This Chapter:
The sacrifices of the animals were a symbol for the ultimate sacrifice that would be made by Jesus centuries later.
The offered animals must be flawless, just as Jesus was sinless when he offered himself up for us.
Putting their hands on the animal symbolized transferring their sins to the animal. Likewise, when Jesus died, our sins were transferred to Him.
The blood splattered on the altar was a symbol of the blood Jesus would later spill for us.
The fellowship offering was as much about fixing relationships between people as it was about fixing the relationship between God and people. Jesus fixes both, and in Him we find the ability to forgive each other.
