Genesis 14 — Sketch

King Priest

Big Idea:

• An alliance of kingdoms battle and then invade Sodom and Gomorrah.

• Abram’s nephew Lot is carried off.

• Abram leads a group of men to save Lot.

• When they return, they meet the King of Sodom and the King of Salem.

• Melchizedek, the priest-king of Salem, gives them bread and wine.

• Abram gives Melchizedek a tenth of everything but refuses to accept anything from the king of Salem.⁠

Jesus in This Chapter:

• Melchizedek is both a priest and a king. Jesus is also both a priest (Hebrews 4:14) and a king (Revelation 19:16).

• Melchizedek provides bread and wine for Abram. Jesus told us to remember Him when we have bread and wine for communion (Luke 22:19-20).
