The Substitute Forshadowed

Big picture:

• God commands Abraham to sacrifice Isaac.

• Abraham takes Isaac to a mountain to obey.

• As Abraham about to kill Isaac, God stops him.

• God shows Abraham a ram caught by its horns in a thicket.

• Abraham sacrifices the ram instead.

• God sends an angel to Abraham.

Jesus in This Chapter:

The ram that took Isaac’s place and spared him from being sacrificed foreshadows Jesus taking our place on the cross and sparing us from death in sin.
