Genesis 46 — Sketch

Reunited

Big Idea:

  • God tells Jacob to go to Egypt.

  • The whole family — 66 people — moves to Egypt.

  • When Joseph and Jacob are reunited, they embrace and weep.

  • Joseph tells Jacob’s family to introduce themselves to Pharaoh as shepherds so they won’t seem like a threat to Egypt.

Jesus in This Chapter:

On the Cross, Jesus prayed, “Why have you forsaken me?” Then, after the resurrection, He ascended back to the Father. We’re not told what that reunion looked like, but I imagine it was something like the reunion of Jacob with the son he believed was dead.
