Genesis 48 — Sketch
Criss-Cross
Big Idea:
Jacob gets sick and asks to see Joseph.
Jacob claims Joseph’s two sons — Ephraim and Manasseh — as his own.
Jacob crosses his arms to bless Joseph’s sons, placing his right hand on the younger brother’s head.
Joseph tries to correct Jacob, but Jacob insists.
The blessing of the firstborn goes to Ephraim, the younger brother.
Jesus in This Chapter:
Jacob gives the blessing of the eldest to Ephraim instead of to his older brother Manasseh. As with Jacob and Esau, this illustrates how Jesus’ righteousness passes from Him to us.
